The Assiniboine Riverwalk to Open for May Long

WINNIPEG, MB. – The Assiniboine River portion of the Forks Riverwalk is set to open in time for the May long weekend. Water levels have dropped low enough to make it safe for workers to clear away all of the winter dirt and grime from the previous six months.

This cleaning process includes the stretch of walkway from the intersection of the Red River to Main Street. Once successful, crews will continue to prepare the section of the walkway from Main Street west. This cleaning process is set to be finished by Saturday morning, opening the Forks Riverwalk in time for the long weekend.

The Red River portion of the Riverwalk unfortunately will not be opening until approximately mid-June, as Parks Canada continues its renovations to the historical site.
