Winnipeg’s Treacherous Ice Will Melt On Sunday

WINNIPEG, MB – Rain on Thursday night followed by plunging temperatures on Friday has covered southern Manitoba in a thin layer of ice.

Highways have been closed and the chances that you can make it down the sidewalk with all your bones intact has greatly diminished. But there’s hope!

Temperatures will rise above 0C on Sunday morning, heading for a high in Winnipeg of 6C, and staying above zero for most of the following week. That should be enough to clear away the slick surface.

In other words, if you’re staying home on Saturday to avoid the ice, you’ll be able to leave the house again on Sunday.
