The first day of the 2014 school year was an expensive one for Winnipeg drivers.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, 128 tickets were issued in school zones between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. today. Another 172 drivers received warnings.

Beginning this week, speed limits surrounding elementary schools were reduced to 30 km/h. With children returning to school this week, police remind drivers to slow down.
