Winnipeg camper found alive, recovering in hospital

Friends and family members of a missing Winnipeg camper are breathing a sigh of relief.

After being reported missing on the afternoon of Aug. 24, by a group of friends camping in Nopiming Provincial Park, Christopher Cloutier was located in the RM of Alexander on Aug. 26.



According to friends, Cloutier, 24, had last been seen at about 3 p.m. on Aug. 23. They believed he had food, supplies and extra clothing in his backpack.

A search party including Lac du Bonnet RCMP, Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship, SARMAN, the Office of the Fire Commissioner and Casara combed the area by foot, boat and helicopter, before Cloutier was found just off Provincial Road 314, near Maskwa and Donner Lake yesterday afternoon.

According to reports, Cloutier did not appear to have any injuries, but was taken to a Pinawa hospital as a precautionary measure.
