Evacuation order lifted after train derailment in Emerson

On Aug. 26, 2014, just before 11:30 p.m., the evacuation order for residents living within 100 metres of the train derailment site in Emerson, Man., was lifted.

The order was issued after Emerson RCMP responded to a train derailment near Fifth Street East and Taylor Avenue in Emerson at about 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 26. When police arrived on scene, two cars were derailed. The cars contained unscented propane, but no leaks were detected.

Approximately 40 people who lived within 100 metres of the site were evacuated as a precaution.

RCMP have left the scene.

There is no criminal investigation into this matter.
