Suspect arrested after Winnipeg sword attack

On Aug. 21, 2014, at approximately 3:30 p.m., in the area of the 100 block of Henry Avenue, an argument occurred between two males known to each other.

One of the males involved produced a large sword and proceeded to stab a 42-year-old male multiple times. The suspect fled and emergency services were notified.

The victim was transported from the scene in critical condition, later upgraded to stable.

The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit.

At approximately 10 p.m., Joshua Kennedy, 18, was located and arrested in the area of the 500 block of Stella Avenue.

Kennedy has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:

• assault with a weapon

• possession of a weapon

He was remanded into custody.
