Nine Injured Following Serious Crash Near Winkler

WINKLER, MB. – Nine people have been injured following a significant head-on collision near Winkler, Manitoba on Sunday. One of the two people in critical condition was airlifted by the STAR-7 helicopter to Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre, while the others were taken by ambulance to hospital.

The accident happened on Sunday afternoon on Highway 32, south of Winkler. The two cars – carrying nine total passengers – collided in what local RCMP are calling a “very serious wreck”. Police also said that every passenger suffered injuries – some very serious. All nine involved are locals.

A forensic collision reconstructionist has concluded that all seatbelts were on at the time of the crash, and no alcohol was involved. More details to follow.
