Extreme Cold Weather Warnings Cover Western Manitoba

Winnipeg, MB – Almost all of western Manitoba, including Brandon, is under an extreme cold weather warning on Wednesday morning.

An arctic high pressure ridge has dropped temperatures to -30C. Mixed with 10-15km/hr winds, it is creating wind chill temperatures of -40C and lower.

The extreme cold weather warning is expected to be lifted in early afternoon, but it may return on Thursday.

During extreme cold weather, people are more at risk of frost bite and hypothermia.

In Winnipeg today the temperature is holding steady around -23C with a wind chill just below -30C.

Flin Flon will warm up to -26C this afternoon with a wind chill of -34C, and in Thompson it will be -28C with a wind chill of -32C. Churchill will be -25C and feel like -37C.
