Brandon man arrested while filling up stolen vehicle with gas

Brandon Police Service

Beginning at about 11:45 p.m. last night, police received several reports of a possible impaired driver operating a red Dodge car.

At about 12:30 a.m., a complainant was able to provide a licence plate number and it was learned that the car had been reported as stolen from the RM of Alexander, Man., the previous day.

Shortly after, members located the vehicle stopped at the fuel pumps located at the 7-11 at 3360 Victoria Ave., and observed the driver exit the vehicle and enter the store. The driver was arrested in the store without incident after the passenger in the car was taken into custody.

The driver, a 21-year-old Brandon man, was arrested for possession of property obtained by crime. It was also determined that there were two warrants for his arrest in existence for failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking.

The 18-year-old male passenger, from Sioux Valley, was also arrested for possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of failing to comply with his probation. Both will appear in Brandon Provincial Court today.
