Winnipeg’s Roller Derby Champion Crowned Saturday

WINNIPEG, MB. — Remember Roller Derby? Well, it’s back!

Actually, I guess it never really went away- and who knew, but Winnipeg has a league.

In fact, Winnipeg’s Roller Derby champion will be crowned tonight (Saturday).

The championship match is set for 8:00pm at the Fort Garry Curling Club.

The Corporation is taking on Valkyrie’s Wrath. One of them will win the coveted golden skate trophy.

The night will also feature some of the league’s up and coming junior skaters.

They go at 5:30pm. The doors open at five o’clock.

I met up with some of the participants at CJOB yesterday.
