Winnipeg’s Jason Kirkness, Man Can He Sing!

WINNIPEG, MB – I had the pleasure of meeting a very talented Manitoban recently, Jason Kirkness. I chatted with him on CJOB just before he headed to Dauphin to open for Keith Urban at CountryFest.

Jason is a native of Kleefeld, Manitoba but lives here in Winnipeg now. And he’s a legitimate Canadian country music star after his recent big hit Whiskey Kiss. A song that has topped half a million streams now. Jason didn’t write Whiskey Kiss but guess who did, the same guy who penned Sweet’s Ballroom Blitz…a favorite rock song of mine from my childhood. I knew there was a reason why I liked Whiskey Kiss so much.

I just checked in with Jason by email to see what’s new with him before writing this feature and he tells me he has been invited to take part next month in the Boots & Hearts Emerging Artists Showcase. He’s also hoping for some nominations as voting is underway for the Manitoba Country Music Association Awards. But don’t worry Jason, you won’t just get nods – I’m predicting hardware too.
