Winnipeg Police Working With Blue Bombers On Youth Flag Football

WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Police Association (WPA) and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are working together on a flag football program for youth in Winnipeg.

The program is focused on helping inner city youth, and has been held by the Bombers for the past four years. This year, the Winnipeg Police Association became an official partner of the event.

Said WPA Vice-President George VanMackelbergh, “Participation in sports is not only fun but the benefits to health and well-being are immeasurable. As police officers, we see the positive impact sports have on youth and we’ve experienced it in our own lives”

Blue Bomber alumni and Winnipeg Police Officers will be helping with the program, which will feature over 200 youth getting training in flag football.

Sport Manitoba, Canadian Tire, the Spence Neighbourhood Association, and the University of Winnipeg are also assisting with the program.
