Winnipeg Loses Pre-Season Game to T-Bones

WINNIPEG, MB. – Despite a home run by the impressive Andrew Sohn, the Winnipeg Goldeyes couldn’t find a way to sweep the Kansas T-Bones in the second game of a two-game pre-season series in Kansas City.

With the teams tied 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Kevin Keyes hit a two-run homer off of Goldeyes righthander Duke Von Schamann and that was the difference in the ball game.

The Goldeyes took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on Sohn’s home run but the T-Bones tied it in the bottom of the fifth and won it on Keyes’ two-run bomb. Chris Perry earned the win while Von Schamann suffered the loss for the Goldeyes. Zach Nuding was strong once again as pitching the highlight of the night for both teams.

The Goldeyes play their final pre-season game on Tuesday night at 6:05 p.m. against the Wichita Wingnuts. All the action can be heard locally at 93.7 FM CJNU and worldwide at

The Goldeyes open the 2017 season on May 18, on the road against the expansion Cleburne Railroaders.  The home opener is Monday, May 29, as the Sioux Falls Canaries invade Shaw Park for a 7 p.m. start.
