Winnipeg Fighting Dutch Elm Disease

WINNIPEG, MB – Starting June 19, the City of Winnipeg is continuing the Elm Bark Beetle Control Program.

Elm Bark Beetles are the carriers of Dutch Elm Disease.

The program will continue in North St. Boniface, Tissot, Central St. Boniface, Dufresne, Mission Industrial, and Holden.

The City will be using Prate 480 EC (Chlorpyrifos), which will be sprayed from portable sprayers onto the lower 50 centimetres of the tree trunk.

Health Canada has opposed the product for use.
