Winnipeg Cop Has Life-Altering Injuries

WINNIPEG, MB – Winnipeg Police says they didn’t report an accidental police shoot to Manitoba’s police watchdog because it didn’t meet mandatory criteria.

The Independent Investigation Unit could still get involved though if it sees fit.

The latest on the officer involved in the shooting is that his injuries are life-altering. He was shot Monday when his gun went off in its holster.

I am wondering why one would have a bullet in the chamber ready to fire when the revolver was in the holster? I can understand having a loaded clip or shells in a cylinder type revolver when on duty. I wonder what would have happened if the revolver went off while removing it from the holster and hit a fellow officer or by stander? Hope the officer makes a speedy recovery.
