UPDATE – Suspect in Congressman Shooting has Died

UPDATE @ 11:15 AM CST

INTERNATIONAL NEWS –  President Donald Trump told a press conference that the suspect in today’s shootings has died of his injuries.

A witness to today’s event, Republican Senator Jeff Flak, in the video above, says “a very loud shot” followed by a rapid succession of shots, was heard during a baseball practice near Washington this morning.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS – During a baseball practice this morning, US Rep. Steve Scalise and a staff member were shot.

The shooting took place in Alexandria, Virginia. According to a CNN story, “sources are calling it an apparent “deliberate attack.”

Scalise is a member of the House Republican leadership and is the majority whip. President Donald Trump tweeted this morning;

The shooting took place at a practice for the GOP congressional baseball team. Police, confirmed in a tweet, that a suspect is now in custody.
