University Of Manitoba Bisons Beat Regina Cougars 5-4

Winnipeg, Manitoba – The Manitoba Bisons beat the Regina Cougars for the second time in two days, with a hard-fought 5-4 victory.

The Bisons beat the Cougars 3-0 on Friday night, but it wasn’t so easy on Saturday.

Cougars goalie Dawson MacAuley made 41 saves in the game, keeping it closer than it could have been otherwise.

“We are doing all the right things, lets just keep doing what we are  doing, but lets not press it,” said Bison Head Coach Mike Sirant when asked how he kept his players focused.

Shaq Merasty scored at 16:20 of the third period, and that turned out to be the winning goal.

Regina got two late goals to make it close, but the Bisons held on.

Manitoba’s record now stands at 8-9-1, while Regina’s tough season continues. They’re 3-14-1 so far.

The Bisons next two games are against the UBC Thunderbirds in Vancouver.
