Truck Hits Pedestrian In Middle Of Gravel Highway

SPLIT LAKE, MB — A 53-year-old pedestrian has died after he was hit by a pickup truck.

It happened Saturday evening around 7:45pm on Provincial Road 280, about 18-kilometres west of Split Lake.

The man was allegedly walking down the middle of a gravel highway in the dark when he was struck by the northbound vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Thompson RCMP say the 55-year-old woman driving the truck and her passengers were not injured.

Alcohol has been ruled out and the investigation continues.
