Thousands without power after Wednesday storms

MANITOBA — Thousands are still without power following a massive storm system Wednesday night.

Around 2,800 customers are affected across the southern end of the province.

That includes the Interlake, Steinbach, Lac du Bonnet, and Arborg.

Morden suffered the worst from the wind gusts exceeding 110-kilometres per hour.

There were two confirmed tornadoes in Brandon, as well.

Hydro says problems caused by this summer’s weather have wreaked havoc on the public utility’s schedule.

That’s because employees can only work a maximum set amount of hours due to safety reasons.

Manitoba Hydro couldn’t provide an estimate of when all services would be restored.
