Letellier Hotel And Bar Destroyed In Massive Blaze

LETELLIER, MB. — Little remains of a rural hotel and bar after a massive blaze.

It happened around 8:00pm Sunday evening at the Letellier Hotel and Oscar’s Bar.

Owner Gilles Barnabe has operated the business for the past 17 years.

He even called the nearly 101-year-old hotel home.

Now, Barnabe doesn’t know where he’ll live or if he’ll be able to rebuild.

He says that depends largely on the insurance company.

Several fire crews needed to be called in as backup.

They came from Altona, Emerson, Dominion City, Altona, and even Pembina in North Dakota.

Six people are now out of work, a big blow to a community that also lost its grocery store in 2016.

Fire officials have not determined a cause or damage estimate.
