Inquest ordered in police shooting death at Kapyong Barracks

An inquest has been ordered into the police shooting death of 24-year-old Mark Dicesare.

It happened on a field at the Kapyong Barracks on Grant Avenue almost a year ago.

The high profile incident started with a police chase down Kenaston Boulevard.

Witnesses at the time told reporters Dicesare waved a gun out of the vehicle’s window.

His friends rebutted that claim saying the situation was extremely out of character.

Police surrounded the vehicle just before an exchange of gun fire took place.

Officials have not said if Dicesare shot at officers or who fired the first bullet.

The Independent Investigation Unit polices the police in our province.

They continue to investigate the death of Dicesare.
