Hal Anderson’s Thoughts For The Week Of January 30th

Winnipeg, Manitoba – Well, my new show starts on 680 CJOB in just a few days. I really hope you’ll tune in Hal Anderson Weekends every Saturday and Sunday from seven to 10 AM. As I said in the news release announcing my return to the station, I want this show to be like a big kitchen table and everyone is welcome to grab a chair. Enough about that for now but please listen and don’t be afraid to tell me what you think. I’m also very open to suggestions.

My buddy Brian Barkley, who’s doing some great writing here on MyToba every Saturday, shared a wonderful story on his Facebook page and now I’m sharing it with you…

A big thanks to Matt Cundill, an old radio boss of mine, for featuring me on his podcast about broadcast. It’s episode 34 of his Sound Off Podcast so he thought it would make sense to talk to me, the 34th Greatest Canadian Of All Time. Please find it online and give it a listen.

Is it just me or is there something weird about the same reporter who called Winnipeg the most racist city in Canada now accusing our premier of making a racist comment? Brian Pallister denies he said it, by the way. There’s no tape of the interview so it’s her word against his at this point. It just seems strange.

This is cool! Pearl Jam will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame April 7th by Winnipeg’s own Neil Young. They have a lot of history together and of course they joined forces to perform that legendary version of Neil’s Rockin’ In The Free World. Here’s their 1993 performance of the song at the MTV awards if you feel like taking seven minutes to MAKE YOUR DAY!

And finally, word is Lady Gaga will announce a world tour after her Superbowl performance Sunday. Rumor has it Gaga wants to do part of her halftime show suspended from the roof of the stadium. Tom Brady will be in the locker room since he doesn’t event want to hear about a suspension.

Have a great week!
