FREE Concerts Coming To Winnipeg City Hall

WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Folk Festival will hosting summer concerts at City Hall.

Called Folk Fest at 510, the concert series will take place every Friday starting June 2 and ending on August 25.

The concerns will be free for all, and go from noon to 1:00 pm in the City Hall Courtyard.

“Partnering with the Winnipeg Folk Festival to present this new summer concert series was a natural fit,” said Michael Jack, Chief Corporate Services Officer for City Hall. “Folk music is a connector of people and we wanted City Hall staff and the Exchange District and downtown communities to gather to enjoy music in the outdoors on a regular basis.”

The first concert will feature Carly Dow, who has been compared to talented folk-singers Gillian Welsh, Amelia Curran, and Abigail Washburn.

“Creating opportunities to bring music to the community year-round is a priority of ours,” said Lynne Skromeda, Executive Director of the Winnipeg Folk Festival. “We are thrilled to be able to support young artists through this partnership with City Hall while giving people live music to experience.”
