Carrie Fisher Dead At Age 60
World News – Carrie Fisher, the beloved actress best known for her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars, has died. The news was confirmed by family spokesman Simon Halls.
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly,” said Halls in a statement.
Fisher had suffered cardiac arrest on flight from London to Los Angeles on Friday. She was taken to hospital in critical condition, and was thought to have stabilized.
In addition to her iconic Star Wars role, Fisher had roles in The Blues Brothers, Hannah and Her Sisters, Agnes of God. She also won an Emmy for her performance in an episode of 30 Rock.
Fisher wrote many books, her first being Postcards from the Edge. She openly acknolwedged her difficulties with substance abuse and her mental health struggles, inspiring many people to be open about their own challenges in life.
Carrie Fisher is survived by her daughter Billie, her Mother Debbie Reynolds, half sisters Joely and Tricia Leigh Fisher, and her brother, Todd Fisher.
