BREACH: Manitoba Health Info At Risk

BRANDON, MB – A security breach at Prairie Mountain Health may have exposed the personal health information of more than 1,000 Manitobans.

According to Prairie Mountain Health, an internal website was breached by a virus.

Though it is believed the virus was meant to damage files, rather than take information, it is still possible that personal health information was stolen.

Between April and May, letters were sent out to patients who may have been effected.

Prairie Mountain Health says a total of 1,176 patients, and 453 staff could have had information taken.

The Prairie Mountain Health region encompasses Brandon, Dauphin, and 53 other municipalities in Manitoba.
