WINNIPEG, MB – Part of Winnipeg’s downtown has been closed to traffic after a suspicious package was found.

Police are on the scene.

Workers at the Vital Statistics building at 254 Portage Avenue have been evacuated.

Portage avenue between Fort & Smith Street, and southbound Garry Street from Ellice to Graham Avenue has been shut down.

A bag sitting on top of a garbage bin seems to be the package in question.
