Beauty And The Beast Claws Major Chunk Of Box Office

WINNIPEG, MB. — Beauty and the Beast clawed a major chunk out of the weekend box office.

The live-action remake raked in $170-million over its first three days in wide release.

It shattered several records, besting Finding Dory’s opening in 2016 ($136-million).

Beauty and the Beast had the best ever opening in March and the seventh best opening of all time.

Overseas receipts bring the film’s gross to $350-million on a $160-million production budget.

King Gone

King Kong suffered the wrath of the beast.

The film dropped to second place for weekend two with a haul of $28.9-million.

It has now earned $110.1-million on a $185-million budget.


X-men installment Logan rounded out the top three in its third weekend.

It pulled in $17.5-million raising receipts to $184-million on a $97-million budget.
